This is made o bvious by watching the depiction gave in the content about the preliminary of Tom Robinson. The blamed is a dark man and has been accused of the assault of Mayella Ewell, little girl of Bob Ewell. Regardless of the way that there is little proof that can convincingly demonstrate blame of the charged, the court continues to see him as liable and sentences him to jail. The way wherein the preliminary is completed and the judgeââ¬â¢s demeanor show that the preliminary of a dark man particularly for a situation against a white woman was impacted to a huge degree by desires for the network rather than the realities. Further the response of the town individuals towards Atticus and his family after his choice to speak to Tom show the presence of racial partiality in the Maycomb people group. Another announcement on equity that shows up in the content is the absence of reasonableness in the Maycomb people group. Over the span of the preliminary it becomes obvious that in spite of the way that Mayella has been assaulted and wounded, her wounds could just have been brought about by a left given individual (Lee, 26). The content continues to set up that her Father, an alcoholic is left given and in all likelihood is the culprit of the wrongdoing. This unjustifiable preliminary is humiliating to individuals, for example, Ms. Maudie who decay to join in (Lee, 26). Such recommendations in the content permit the end that the content shows the nonattendance of balance in arrangement of equity in Maycomb. Sadly in the process the aggressor is seriously harmed and looses his life furnishing us with a circumstance that gives a gentle proclamation on discipline of the blameworthy. The Merchant of Venice In the sad satire delineated in this content the topic of preference is demonstrated in the activity of Antonio towards Shylock. In the content, Shylock, is in the matter of loaning cash with enthusiasm to individuals of the town. Antonio is a rich vendor and furthermore now and again loans cash to the town society without premium. It is conceivable that the counter Semitic disposition Antonio shows by spitting on Shylock is because of corrupt strategic policies (Stevens and Shakespeare, 33). The segment of the content portrays how Basanio after knowing about his comradeââ¬â¢s difficulty hurries to his guide. While trying to determine the issue Basanio offers to settle the obligation by offering multiple times the chief sum. Shylock expeditiously denies this offer expressing that the agreement among him and Antonio permits him to extricate a pound of tissue as remuneration. Shylock in an explanation that displays his injustice by will not acknowledge the proposal by Basanio and demands the extraction of su bstance to reimburse the obligation (Stevens and Shakespeare, 34). It ought to be noticed that by law the duke is qualified for parley and should see to the regarding of an agreement. The duke is in this manner limited by the agreement notwithstanding Shylockââ¬â¢s absurd requests. This demonstrates how much the general public respects the significance The duke being limited by the agreement acknowledges the endeavors of intermediation by Balthazar. This Balthazar happens to be Basanioââ¬â¢s lady of the hour who in camouflage makes a sharp endeavor to parley (Stevens and Shakespeare, 134). Consequently the Duke is compelled to stay by the law with respect to contracts. Luckily for Antonio the cunning plot by the impostors uncovers an imperfection in the lawful agreement. It is built up that however the agreement permits the extraction of substance it makes no notice of blood (Stevens and Shakespeare, 166). The impostors in this manner request that Shylock extricate the pound of tissue without drawing any blood or hazard relinquishing the obligation. This situation likewise gives another case of decency. Shylock having been resolved in accepting his due in the way expressed in the agreement can't uphold it in the way expressed. The youngster, Lorenzo is a Christian and Jessica steals away with him taking a generous measure of her fatherââ¬â¢s riches simultaneously (Stevens and Shakespeare, 64). This reality that his little girl will change over to Christianity causes Shylock much resentment proposing his aversion for Christians. This reality is upheld by Shylockââ¬â¢s proclamation on meeting Antonio portraying his abhorrence for Christians (Stevens and Shakespeare, 28). End In this report the conversation introduced has endeavored to give data that uncovers different articulations about equity woven into the content. Salary imbalance is when pay is unevenly appropriated in a nation. This disparity has arrived at amazing statures over the world. Indeed, even in what we consider created nations this difference is just expanding. The reasons for money balance can go anyplace from migration to the strategies and governmental issues of a nation. In any case, a few pundits of pay imbalance will contend that it will consistently be available and is important to invigorate development. In any case, the issue isn't just that the hole between poor people and the rich is enlarging yet that pay disparity is causing destroying business sector and government disappointments. We look specifically to the instance of the United States. The US is the worldââ¬â¢s driving force and hegemon, who likewise has the worldââ¬â¢s most elevated GDP and GDP per capita. In any case, lately the hole between the rich and poor people has been developing at a quick pace. This predominance of pay disparity in a free market society like the US demonstrates that imbalance is an immediate aftereffect of a market or government disappointment. In a free market it is accepted that people have an equivalent chance to be effectively, but since of misallocation of assets in a market economy this is beyond the realm of imagination. The assets I am alluding to here are those that are required for an individual to get away from destitution and win a higher pay. This incorporates legitimacy and open products that people with higher wages can manage the cost of and entertain themselves with while individuals with lower livelihoods or experiencing destitution rely upon some blessing from the state, for example, human services, instruction, and access to work openings and expert systems. It is critical to a general public that we deal with these market disappointments to not just assistance decline pay disparity... ...vity. Moreover, the bill has the possibly to additionally expand the salary disparity hole. For instance, understudies who canââ¬â¢t bear the cost of the expense of advanced education yet whose guardians get a lot of cash-flow to fit the bill for government help will in any case be compelled to take out private credits to support their training. ââ¬Å"These advances can add up to somewhere in the range of $50,000 to $60,000 when an understudy graduates, in spite of going to an open universityâ⬠(The Student Loan, 2012). This thusly, will make understudies settle on decisions dependent on the expense of advanced education instead of their own which implies less talented works and people financing U.S markets and more pay disparity. At last, despite the fact that the bill lowered the expense of advanced education it does nothing to dispose of the expense completely and shockingly not so much doable since it was shot somewhere near the Committee of Education and Workforce.

The Great Wall Of China - 905 Words
It has been said that the Great Wall of China is so immense that it can be seen from space with just the human eye. Unfortunately, that is simply a rumor and has been confirmed false. Nonetheless, the Great Wall of China is also the worldââ¬â¢s longest wall and biggest piece of ancient architecture, which is still a pretty big deal. Its official length is about 13,170 miles long, more than four times the width of the United States. The wall crosses over ten provinces and cities, including Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, and Liaoning. There is no definite period of time from when the wall began to when it was finished, but archeologists believe the main sections of the wall were built between 221-206 BC. Now knowing itââ¬â¢s deep roots and itââ¬â¢s extensive land coverage, it is no surprise that the salvation of this remarkable structure is in jeopardy. In my paper I will focus on issues including the preservation, conservati on, and overall management of the Great Wall of China, which shed significant light on the complex history and ethical issues related to this monument. I will argue that enforcement of government regulations and the promotions of keeping the wall unsoiled and beautiful are necessary actions with respect to the monumentââ¬â¢s care and preservation today, and must be regarded further in light of aesthetic and national concerns. Colorism And The Common Struggle Of Black Girls - 1921 Words
Colorism and the common struggle of black girls Over the course of the years, society has taught black girls that the darker their skin tone is, the uglier they are which triggered them to do their best to meet Eurocentric beauty standards such as having light skin, slim nose and straight hair. ââ¬Å"It was their contempt for their own blackness that gave the first insult its teeth. They seemed to have taken all of their smoothly cultivated ignorance, their exquisitely learned self-hatred, their elaborately designed hopelessness and sucked it all up into a fiery cone of scorn that had burned for ages in the hollows of their minds ââ¬â cooled ââ¬â and spilled over lips of outrage, consuming whatever was in its path.â⬠(2.4.12 Morrison). Colorism is a serious and one of the most unaddressed subject in the black community, people of color come with all types of excuses to brush it off, they also ignore the internalized racism behind it, but it should be more acknowledged and debated, that way our generation will be enlightened about it and prevent the emotional damage at best to the generation to come. Many black girls go thru social identity issues on a daily basis. Skin color has created division even within black people because fairer skin tones are highly praised in the Negro community. The Role Of Gender Challenging Role Models - 1710 Words
The use of gender challenging role models in the classroom is a method I am going to use during my final professional practice and during my year as a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT). I am going to use these demonstrate to both girls and boys that the media depiction of success is not accurate and that success can be measured in various ways. Role models such as Marie Curie, Dian Fossey and Mary Anning are good historical figures to use but children could see these as dull despite their achievements. Although I do consider the use of these women as role models important, I feel that a role model who children can relate to and that they see in everyday life would be more successful in challenging gender stereotypes. Although research totally refutes the assumption that boysââ¬â¢ attainment improves when they are placed with a male teacher (Drudy, 2008; Francis et al, 2008; Read, 2010), There seems to be a particular kudos that some male teachers get from children. Following this trauma, her mother killed herself, most likely because of the father, which in itself is overwhelming and heartbreaking for a 10 year old. During all of this Ellen is always very close friends with a little colored girl named Starletta, as much as Ellen doesnââ¬â¢t want to be like her father, she still canââ¬â¢t help being racist because of her own fathers influence. She may not be able to control whoââ¬â¢s child she is or how much she looks like her father, but Ellen eventually learns she can take the way she feels about other people into her own hands. What you had better worry about though is the people you know and trusted they would be like you because you were all made in the same batch. You need to look over your shoulder at the one who is in charge of holding you up and see if that is a knife he has in his hand. And it might not be a colored hand. But it is a knifeâ⬠this is where Ellen realizes she is wrong in all of her stereotypes. Colored peop le have never wronged her personally. Itââ¬â¢s Ironic because It was always her own family, her own WHITE family that was cruel, and spiteful to her. In the end she even invites Starletta over at her ââ¬Å"new mamaââ¬â¢sâ⬠for a sleepover. Ellens final say of the matter is ââ¬Å" I came a long way to get here but when you think about it real hard you will see that old Starletta came even farther And all this time I thought I had the hardest row to hoe. â⬠In this she means generally speaking, African Americans have had a rougher start in their lives as stereotypical whole than any white man will have to go through, and she is just now appreciating the fact that she does not have to fight to be an equal with the world. ââ¬Å"In times of adversity or hardship, oneââ¬â¢s true character is revealedâ⬠is undeniably the most relevant theme in Ellen foster. Ellenââ¬â¢s loss of her parents and rejection from her loved ones eventually makes her realize that colored people arenââ¬â¢t bad like she was raised to think they were, and that her own family was who she should have been ashamed to be around her whole life. Among other things she comes to terms with the fact she is not the only person with a rough childhood, and she ends up not only in a new and great home, but with a new mindset. Racism is no longer a concern for Ellen and in that; she has grown closer with her best friend Starletta. Ellen was always strong, but by the end of Kaye Gibbonââ¬â¢s novel, sheââ¬â¢s a survivor.

Autobiography Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton Essay Sample free essay sample
In the autobiography Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton three key thoughts I found interesting were resiliency. hope and bravery. Soul Surfer is an animating true narrative about a 13 twelvemonth old miss acquiring her arm bitten off by a shark. Bethany. from the age of two had a passion for surfing. when this event occurred the possibility of being able to trail her dream of being a professional surfboarder became ââ¬Å"blurredâ⬠. The cardinal thoughts of resiliency. hope and bravery are portrayed throughout this text most significantly after this accident had occurred. An thought in the text that I find interesting is resiliency. Resilience is the ability to resile back from disputing state of affairss. Bethany Hamilton losing her arm caused this quality to be tested. Bethany demonstrates resiliency particularly when she had entered her first surfboarding competition after the onslaught. With the loss of one arm. this undertaking was ever traveling to be disputing. We will write a custom essay sample on Autobiography Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton Essay Sample or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page While Bethany is in ââ¬Å"the impact zoneâ⬠she gets knocked down from the force of the moving ridges. Like in existent life. the determination to ââ¬Å"get back upâ⬠is a presentation of resiliency. To surfers the ââ¬Å"impact zoneâ⬠is when the surfboarder receives the worst whipping afterâ⬠pass overing outâ⬠or ââ¬Å"paddling outâ⬠. This is where the moving ridges break most systematically and fiercely. In life. the ââ¬Å"impact zoneâ⬠is where you are forced to resile back after traveling through a unsmooth period in life or a hard state of affairs. Bethany inspires resiliency in others when she visits a 7 twelvemonth old male child in 2009. This male child lost his arm in a auto accident and believed he could neer play baseball once more. Bethany actuating this male child to non give up shows us her presentation of resiliency is an illustration to follow by others. I find this thought interesting because it is really relevant to every twenty-four hours life. Resilience is a quality required in many state of affairss. Possessing it is a gift because it triggers your hibernating abilities such as concealed strengths. beliefs and assurance. We all have learnt one manner or another that ââ¬Å"life doesnââ¬â¢t acquire easier or more forgiving. we merely acquire stronger and more resilient. â⬠This text encourages this quality to be practiced through all tough state of af fairss. Another thought that I find interesting in the autobiography Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton is bravery. Courage is get the better ofing fright and making what scares you. Often we neer know when we are being brave. this text shows Bethanyââ¬â¢s journey to going brave. Courage is shown most significantly in the text when Bethany chose to go to Thailand to help in the clean up procedure of the Tsunami. Bethany. when she arrived. stood on the border of the beach watching the sea inquiring why ââ¬Å"everyone was so panicky of the H2O. â⬠She watched a group of kids sitting on the sand without anyone to look after them. Bethany realises all of those kids are orphans as a consequence of the Tsunami. Sarah. the counsel council member of the trip to Thailand. walks over to Bethany while she is experiencing disquieted that these kids have no household. Sarah inspires Bethany to have a different ââ¬Å"perspectiveâ⬠and to gain ââ¬Å"compassion can drive us to have alternate pe rspectivesâ⬠. From this advice. Bethany starts to experience blessed that she has survived and still has household. Bethany so inspires all the kids to travel and hold a swim to confront their frights. Other citizens in Thailand watched and clapped to back up Bethany giving these kids the bravery to confront their frights. I found this thought interesting because it takes a batch of bravery to set your ain state of affairs on clasp to gain others are in worse state of affairss than yourself. Bethany making this proved to me that she was ââ¬Å"showing bravery by making something out of the ordinary to better her life. â⬠This thought is relevant to society because unless people have courage to confront their frights and to acquire back up after neglecting. we wouldnââ¬â¢t have the resources we are supplied with today. 12. 000 people were saved in Thailand because of the voluntaries. such as Bethany. who helped feed hungering people and rebuild places. These voluntaries showed bravery that had driven back their frights. and it has allowed them to truly unrecorded life the manner it is meant to be lived. Soul Surfer is a text that motivates people of all ages to seek new thin gs even if it scares them ; it shows us that bravery can take to get the better ofing hard state of affairss which everyone brushs at some point in their lives. Another thought I found interesting in the text Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton is hope. Hope is cognizing and strongly believing that though one is in a hard state of affairs. things will better. This is exemplified in the text when Bethany competes in the Hawaiian Island subjects. Her presence entirely gives hope and motive to others to win. Bethany. in the last minute of the competition scores a ââ¬Å"9. 7â⬠on a moving ridge which required her to merely necessitate another ââ¬Å"9â⬠to win the national event. Although the Siren goes off to stop the competition after Bethany has surfed a brilliant moving ridge she ââ¬Å"won in everybody elseââ¬â¢s eyes. â⬠Her protagonists realise ââ¬Å"if you lose hope. somehow you lose the verve that keeps life traveling. You lose courage to be that quality that helps you keep forcing on in malice of everything. â⬠I found this thought interesting because like resiliency and bravery hope is needed to non give up on yourself. This universe would be a much different topographic point if everyone thought the ends they had set in life were excessively hard. they wouldnââ¬â¢t believe in themselves to accomplish them. It is a relevant thought to life as ââ¬Å"hope will ever be the route map to life. It will be 1s guide to the way of success and felicity. â⬠Hope is required in many state of affairss. Hope was required in Bethanyââ¬â¢s state of affairs and it allowed her to believe she could surf once more. Without this hope. Bethany would neer hold been able to ââ¬Å"embrace more people than she would hold with two weaponries. â⬠In decision the autobiography Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton has many thoughts that I find interesting. These thoughts are resiliency. bravery and hope. Soul Surfer is an animating true narrative of a miss crushing the odds and neer giving up. I have learnt that through resiliency we can hold bravery to neer give up on our ends. Hope is required along the journey to believe you will accomplish these ends. We need to gain that ââ¬Å"being knocked downâ⬠is portion of life and if ââ¬Å"we can demo people we are strong plenty to acquire back upâ⬠success and felicity will follow.

Marcel Duchamp essays
Marcel Duchamp essays Painter. Born July 28, 1887 in Blainville, France, the son of a notary of Rouen. One of Marcel's brothers, Gaston, known as Jacques Villon, was a painter; another brother, Raymond Duchamp-Villon, was a sculptor. Duchamp moved to Paris at the age of 17 and began to paint. By 1911 he was responding in his painting to cubism, but his subjects were unusually personal and psychologically complex compared to the typical cubist ones. In his famous Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2 (1912) Duchamp used a limited cubist palette and faceting of forms but completely contradicted the cubist esthetic in his choice of an ironic title and stress on actual movement. When this painting was exhibited at the Armory Show in New York City in 1913, it created an uproar and was the focal point for derogatory criticism of the show (one critic described the work as "an explosion in a shingle factory"). In 1912-1913 a radical change took place in both Duchamp's life and art. Together with the writer Guillaume Apollinaire and the painter Francis Picabia, he began working out a highly original and mocking concept of art. Duchamp sought out methods of making art in which the artist's hand would not be stressed (using chance and mechanical methods of drawing and painting). Increasingly language and the nonvisual side of art became important to him. As he later said: "I am interested in ideasnot merely the visual products. I want to put painting once again to the service of the mind." In 1913 Duchamp created his first "ready-made," the Bicycle Wheel. This was the first of a limited number of everyday objects that Duchamp chose (sometimes making minor additions), rather than made by hand. In these he questioned conventional ideas about the artist's role in the creation of art and about original and unique artistic products, and he brought up issues as to the value of art, the market, and the art gallery. In the next few years he turned out a small number...

The decisions made by the Bush administration, for the first time in Essay
The decisions made by the Bush administration, for the first time in American history, approving extraordinary procedures of investigation, questioning, and punishment to use in the War on Terror - Essay Example A UN panel formed on November 2004, defined terrorism as any act aimed to cause bodily harm to civilians for compelling the government to do any act (Allen). Even though America declared war against terror after the September 11 attacks, it conducted anti terrorist operations since the early 1990ââ¬â¢s. From this period the US Government was operating anti terror programmes. One such programme was forcible capturing or seizing suspected terrorists from foreign countries and transferring them to a 3rd country. This programme came to be known as Extraordinary rendition. It was expanded by the Bush administration after the 2001 attacks. Latest records reveal that up to 1245 flights have been operated for transporting terror suspects from undisclosed locations to detention centers operated by CIA also called as Black sites. This action by the US government has created tensions between its European allies, namely the Council of Europe, Congressional committees and Human rights organizations. They have questioned the legality of the programme even though forgetting the ill effects of terror attacks suffered by US and many other foreign countries. This programme of Extraordinary rendition was formed after the 1993 attacks on US. It was a way for the CIA for keeping the terror suspects out from the American court system because they feared that the intelligence system could be jeopardized. This programme got approval from the Presidential Decision Directive 39 issued by President Bill Clinton. This directive gave suggestions regarding procedures to be used for forcible abduction of terrorists without the permission of the host governments. Actually this act was a blatant encroachment against the sovereignty of other nations on the grounds of fight against terror. This programme was extensively used after the September 11 attacks by the US government. The programme of Extraordinary rendition was promoted first by Richard

One doesnââ¬â¢t need travel to another part of the country or even the world to see and talk to his/her relatives as it is now possible to call them on the phone, e-mail them or write on Facebook. Keeping in touch with friends is also much easier via social networking technologies, and prompt professional communications are guaranteed as cellphones, faxes and computers are always at your fingertips. In fact, our entire social life is now dominated by technological means of communication, which produces a complex and dubious effect on us. However, the contour of things used to be different even a century or two ago: Adam Gopnik states that the key to the changes in our overall lifestyle and social behavior lies in invention of telegrams and trains (Gopnik). Yearning to reduce distances and draw closer together, people have invented technologies that have taken roots in the worldââ¬â¢s developed communities so firmly that they might have a devastating effect. So what are those multifaceted impacts the new ways of connection between people have? Talking of the positive effects of globalization and growth of technological meansââ¬â¢ of communication role, one should focus foremost on professional and personal relationships that

Motivation and the Brain - Eating Healthy Essay Example for Free
Motivation and the Brain Eating Healthy Essay Eating right is essential for positive motivation and clear thinking. The brain, specifically the hypothalamus, along with the cerebral hemisphere works closely with physiological stimulation. This includes all five of our senses, specifically speaking, taste. Explaining the brain function associated with eating, I will discuss the influence of extrinsic and intrinsic factors, which will include heredity and involving the environment. In addition I will discuss the motivation need to succeed in eating healthy. The main function of the hypothalamus is homeostasis, or maintaining the bodys state in which it works. Factors such as blood pressure, body temperature, fluid and electrolyte balance, and body weight are held to a precise value called the set-point. The Hypothalamus organizes and controls many complex emotions, feelings and moods, as well as all motivational states including hunger, appetite and food intake, and everything to do with the concept of pleasure including satisfaction, comfort and creative activities (Incredible Horizons, 2009). It appears that almost everything the Hypothalamus does is related in some way to weight management and controlled weight loss. When the Hypothalamus is not working properly, food becomes more important, but increasingly more unfulfilling. We end up never feeling satisfied with the foods which we have eaten, gradually eating more and more to try to compensate for whatever is lacking. From a metabolism point of view, the Hypothalamus not only governs the motivation to eat, but most importantly how eating is to be experienced, if it is satisfying or not, and how deep the satisfaction occurs. This gives an idea just how important a healthy hypothalamic function really is (Incredible Horizons, 2009). Understanding how the hypothalamus works and keeping it healthy could be an extrinsic motivational factor to eat healthy. Being educated on how food affects the brain but also the body as a whole would be an example of extrinsic motivation. However, it is how we learn to eat, hereditarily speaking that gives us the tools to start out eating healthy from a young age or not. Lifelong food preference tends to start to develop while a baby is still in the motherââ¬â¢s womb. The strongest pattern for future food preferences is formed during the age of 9 to 19 months of age (Vera, 2009). At this time, everything connected with food intake leaves a strong imprint on the childââ¬â¢s brain. Also, the baby is tasting everything with his or her mouth; toys, shoes, body parts, etc. Concurrently, the child is memorizing the experiences of his mother and fathers eating habits; what they are eating, what they are feeding the baby, their emotional reaction to the babyââ¬â¢s consumption of these foods all while the unsuspecting parents believe that the child does not comprehend much of what is going on. The reality is the child is forming food habits for a lifetime. Whatever the first tastes, textures, smells an sights of food are, that child will crave them for the rest of his or her life, especially in moments of distress. Because of this, it would appear that comfort food is not too far from the truth. This was often a time in a childââ¬â¢s life when their mom or dad focused much love and caring on them and purely through association finds its way into our adult lives when we feel emotionally distressed or needing comfort. Human behavior patterns forming in childhood are crucially important for parents to pay close attention to the eating habits they are helping their children form (Vera, 2009). Promoting healthy eating habits with special care introducing fresh fruits and vegetables to their children as much as possible; in addition, parents must keep this promotion up otherwise children will fall prey to the societyââ¬â¢s image of food which is unhealthy; another extrinsic example. In todayââ¬â¢s society negative eating habits are advertised in every corner. According to Not Alone website, the top ten lists of popular food most people eat on a regular basis may not appear too alarming: a burger meal, Pizza, Spaghetti, or even a hot dog meal. However, after reviewing the nutritional analysis it should be alarming! For example, a burger meal contains 1300 calories, 34 grams of protein, 189 grams of carbohydrates and 44 grams of fat. This is equivalent to 38 teaspoons of sugar and a half of a stick of butter (McKeith, Ph. D. , 2005). The normal daily calorie intake should be 2,550 for men and 1,940 for women (McKeith, Ph. D. , 2005). Unfortunately the typically daily intake for both men and women are on average 3, 877 calories. Knowing these statistics should lead a person to use internal motivation to recognize the severity of the issue and begin to eat healthy. To conclude, eating right is essential for positive motivation and clear thinking. We have learned the hypothalamus, along with the cerebral hemisphere works closely with physiological stimulation including taste. Iââ¬â¢ve explained the brain function associated with eating, discussed the influence of extrinsic and intrinsic factors including heredity and the environment. Lastly, I discussed the motivation need to succeed in eating healthy. References Breck, K. B. (2011). A practical guide to a happy life. Why I Have Chosen the Teaching Profession Essay -- essays papers
Why I Have Chosen the Teaching Profession When I think of becoming a teacher I would like to imagine or hope that I would be ââ¬Å"turning the keyâ⬠for a student of mine to become something great. I have been soul searching for many years now to have a better understanding of what I am suppose to do in my life. I have worked in so many jobs in so many areas but nothing was fulfilling my life with any amount of meaning. I found myself not wanting to go back the next day or wishing I were somewhere else. Well I guess everyone does that is what I would tell myself. Until a couple years ago when I was working and living in Las Vegas. It was there that I finally realized what I had been searching for in my life. I was spending a lot of time with a co-worker who had children in the school system. I vividly remember hearing her children say ââ¬Å"the teacherââ¬â¢s donââ¬â¢t care.â⬠This was shocking for a child who was in the fourth grade to be saying to me. I guess because I had a great experience in school with wonderful caring teachers. My memories of school are a little blurred with age but I do remember looking up to them as role models. Especially, my eighth grade English teacher who was the first person who ever told me that I was a beautiful writer. She encouraged me to continue to learn as much as I could about becoming a good writer. I still see her from time to time and she asks if I am still writing. I always say yes, but the last time I saw her, I got the chance to te...

Essay on Mobile Revolution Essay
Mobiles are no more a luxury or a life style product. Mobile phones, which were one of the beautiful possessions of anybody not until a decade ago, have now become a necessity to the common man. The entry of private service providers with CTMA, GSM and of course, 3G technologies has changed the Communication sector in India beyond imagination. Many new competitors have entered the mobile market resulting in reduction of the STD rates and Local call rates. Plans are also on anvil to enable mobile users to switch over to other service providers without changing their number, also called Mobile Number Portability (MNP). The mobile users in India have increased tremendously during the last decade. Youth, both in rural and urban India, have welcomed and accepted mobiles with open hands. The decrease in call rates can be imagined from the fact that it cost around? 16 per minute when mobiles were introduced in India and today it costs as little as 1 paisa per 2 seconds offered by companies like MTS. Even the size of mobile phones has changed to an unimaginable level. They have become very handy today compared to their walkie-talkie resemblance when they were introduced. The immense benefit offered by a mobile has triggered this revolution. With a mobile phone in hand, one can be available round the clock, and can get the up-to-date information on anything. The availability of internet on mobile phones has increased its utility tremendously. It has made mobile phones, to an extent, an essential item for carrying out a business transaction. The facility of sending short messages or pictures enables a person to send the message across without actually bothering to disturb the other person. For traders, it helps them get the price details of any products without even bringing the products to the market. The introduction of mobile banking helps people carry their bank in their mobile. Some people even carry their office in their mobile phones. However, mobile phones also have some demerits as they can be used to detonate bombs. Some instruments which have cameras in them can be used for taking unnecessary photographs. Constant use of mobile phones may create health problems and increase risk of accidents on road. In spite of these demerits, mobile phones are becoming popular day-by-day as their advantages fairly outweigh the demerits. In fact, the mobile revolution has occurred very fast in India. This symbolizes the countryââ¬â¢s transformation from an inward looking tentative nature to a confident and resurgent global economic power. The mobile phone service providers have also increased manifold during the years. Some of the important market players are: Aircel, Airtel, BSNL, MTNL, Idea Cellular, Tata Indicom, Tata DoCoMo, Reliance Communications, Virgin Mobile, Vodafone, Videocon Telecommunications, MTS India and Spice Telecom. Even in rural India, mobile phone has brought a tremendous change to rural telephony, marginalizing the middlemen and empowering women, strengthened by the formation of self-help groups. It has vastly improved access to information and helped in the explosive growth in connectivity. Even at sea, fishermen in Kerala use the mobiles to keep track of rates for their catch in the market. The improvement in infrastructure and support from the Government has acted as a catalyst for mobiles to make tremendous inroads into rural India. The role of mobile telephones are varied, in that, they help assess the market information, coordinate travel and transport, manage remote activities and increase the remunerative working days. As a result, the rural marketing scenario has also undergone a change. Today, the rural consumer is better informed and price conscious. The total mobile penetration is increasing at a quick pace with companies like Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Tata Teleservices, etc. aving unveiled big network expansion plans and innovative marketing strategies specially tailored region-wise. Some of these companies are using a door-to-door marketing strategy in villages and B and C category census towns. They are involving members of gram panchayats and trained market-feelers to make residents aware of the usefulness of mobile telephony and how the system of pre-paid refills work. Handset manufacturers too are gearing up with Nokia incorporating nine Indian languages on certain handsets to promote sales. Value-for- money handsets priced between 1,000 and 1,400 with a plethora of tariff plans to choose from is also one of the reasons for driving subscription growth in these regions. Handsets are being imported in bulk by some service providers. It is expected that voice short messaging service will become a focus area in future, especially in rural areas and service providers are already planning implementation of the same. The pace at which mobile revolution has occurred in India can be attributed to the easy to understand operations. For an illiterate, mobiles phones were so easy to operate that they needed to understand only two buttons the green button for answering a call and the red button for disconnecting a call. Everything else can be learnt with usage and passage of time. Even today, most of the mobiles are used on this two button principle, which makes it a popular device. Gone are the days when people use to queue up before a Public Call Office (PCO) and wait their turn for an hour, only to end up without connectivity. Mobile phones have also removed the necessity to remember telephone numbers of other people. In-built phone books in the instruments enable a person to call the other person, without ever having to remember the other personââ¬â¢s number. Actually, mobile phones have become an all-in-one tool in the pocket, which has replaced even the old pocket diary. It is also slowly replacing purse, with the introduction of mobile transactions. No wonder, life without mobile phones have become unimaginable and unthinkable to many.

Biographies And Biographies Of Books Essay - 1231 Words
The term ââ¬Å"nonfictionâ⬠is a very broad classifier of literature. Alongside fiction, the two genres account for all the literature in existence. A quick internet search will present a number of genres that are considered nonfiction. From historical eyewitness accounts, to creative nonfiction, to biographies, there are many genres that people generally accept as factual. Memoirs and biographies are usually counted on the more reliable side. Thus, there exist a number of sub-genre that fall under the title of ââ¬Å"nonfictionâ⬠. However, take a look past the surface, a number of problems with this stance arise. In all truth, the brains of human beings are the only source behind the facts of biographies and memoirs. As it turns out, this is the source is far from credible. Memoirs and biographies are not reliable sources of nonfiction due to the differences between brains, bias which affects the brain, and the faulty nature of brain functions. Every person has a distinc t, separate brain, despite how similar people may feel to the others around them. Furthermore, Tassal does not farm GMO salmons which mean that the product is completely natural and unmodified. Environmental sustainability is achieved in Tassal through various programs and activities that encourage conservation of the natural environment in which salmons breed. Since the salmon spends the hatching and breeding stage in fresh water, it therefore means that the company has put in place various measures to ensure the water is not polluted and is suitable for breeding of salmons. Tassal also achieves sustainability in the environment by avoiding the use of drugs on salmons,. However when they are sick, antibiotics are admitted to the sick salmon after which it is put into isolation for a given period of time. The company mostly targets women to buy this product who are in their young adult stage of life. The production processes are very environmental friendly and they help in conserving the ecosystem. This is because, the companies avoids as much as possible the use of chemicals at any stage of the production process (Keillor, 2007). Tassal is very keen when setting a price for their products. This is mainly because, the demand of almost all of the companys products is highly elastic to changes in price. This therefore means that an increase in price may cause a corresponding decrease in demand.(Marich, 2013) Decrease in price also causes a large increase in demand. The company sets prices for its products depending on a combination of variety of factors. Some of these factors include production costs, profit margin targets as well as depending on the availability of the product and the demand of the same. The company increases prices during summer due to limited access to the products in relation to demand. Products are also priced depending on their quality with premium products retailing at very high prices and their quality is high. Economic sustainability is achieved by offering products at reasonable prices that consumers can afford. Price of products also ensures social-cultural sustainability since an aff ordable price will mean many people in the society can afford to buy the product. Tassal mostly depends on direct distribution channels to reach its final consumers. This is made possible by the big number of shops the company has opened in different areas across the region. The products of the company can also be obtained from other retailers who buy them from the company. Such retailers include supermarkets and small retailer fish shops. The distribution system of the company is meant to maximize the number of customers who can easily access the product conveniently. The company has established shops at every local level in Australia both in retail and wholesale. It has gone further to understand the market they target i.e. middle age females and married couples involved in business (Dun Bradstreet Corporation, 2009). Strategies in place include intensive distribution, exclusive distribution, selective distribution, and franchising. The company also sells its products online after which delivery can be done to customers. Sustainability is achieved by using efficient distribution methods such as sharing transport means to ensure environmental sustainability by reducing air pollution. Product promotion is very essential for any product or organization to become successful in the market. Part of the reason why Tassal has been successful for so long is proper utilization of promotion as an element of marketing. Tassals uses various promotion techniques that are either used separately or are combined to bring about the desired results for the organization. These techniques include radio advertising, print media advertising, use of free gifts, participating in trade fairs and exhibitions as well as branding their products with the companies` logo and philosophy statement (Brinker, 2016). The company publicizes itself by sponsoring sporting activities and hospitals urging people to consume the products of the company in order to become healthier. Comparison of marketing mix of Tassal to that of competitors In order compare the product mix of Tassal, it is important to determine what are the strengths and weaknesses of the company. To determine the strengths and weaknesses of Tassal, an analysis of the internal and external environment of the company is necessary. The analysis will be done using the SWOT analysis technique. The comparison of the four ps of marketing of Tassal and its competitors also requires identification of major competitors of the company and analyzing its 4 ps (Dimson,Marsh Staunton,2008). The following are the strengths of Tassal: One of these strengths is that the abundant resources, physical, financial and human resources. This resources are a source of competitive advantage for the company and hence giving Tassal an edge over rivals in the market (Tom, 2017). The brand of the company is strong and therefore the consumers have faith in what the company offers them. Tassal does not have to do a lot of advertising since it already has a strong brand which has created customer loyalty. The large size of the company also helps the company to enjoy economies of scale on production and therefore its able to offer its products at a lower price than competitors(Weber, 2009).. Highly qualified staff help the company to be innovative and grow at a very fast rate while at the same time achieving the core values of the organization The seasonality of agricultural products also affects the company even thou it does not depend much on natural methods of production. Supply of products reduces at times due to the failure of the company to properly manage supply chain especially at the initial stages(Hack and Berg, 2014). The increasing health concern among consumers in Australia means that more and more people will be willing to consume products that are naturally produced and do not have chemicals. The demand for Tassals products will therefore increase hence presenting the company with an opportunity to open business in all corners of the country (Cuganesan,Guthrie Ward, 2010). The company also has an opportunity to diversify and produce other types of fish. The main threat for Tassal is competition from local rivals such as Huon Agricultural group. Increased importation of the products produced and distributed by Tassal is eating up the market share of Tassal(Tassal,2016.). The company therefore should take the right steps to neutralize these threats Comparing Tassal 4 ps and competitor 4 ps The two main competitors for Tassal are Huon Aquaculture and Petuna sea foods. These companies offer very stiff competition to Tassal and therefore it is important to analyze them. Both Huon and Petuna offer products that are very closely related to those offered by Tassal. The only difference between the products is in branding, grading, packaging as well as design(Weinberg, 2009). The products are slightly differentiated in order to attract customers. Tassals prices are high compared to those of the two main competitors. This is because the company has positioned itself as the market leader in terms of producing premium healthy salmons and hence setting higher prices. Most of the competitors also use direct distribution methods. The competitors also depend so much on middlemen in order to reach the final consumer. Even though both Huon Aquaculture and Petuna have shops, they are not as widely distributed as those of Petuna. The promotion methods used by all three competitors are entirely the same. The design of the message and positioning of the company and the product however varies Recommendations The following are the actions and the strategies that should be undertaken in order to improve marketing of Tassal: Efficient marketing, product promotion efforts will help in improving marketing mix of Tassal. The company should use promotion techniques that are cheap, effective as well as sustainable. Adoption of these methods will help the company to save on promotion costs and this can be transferred to the final consumer hence lowering prices of products. This is very important in the phase of strong competition from foreign imports and local competitors. This move will also help in raising sales volumes of the company. The promotion methods that should be used include social media advertising and internet advertising through the companies` website(Kocmanov et al., 2016). The company should improve its marketing mix by expanding its product portfolio. This can be done through horizontal diversification or vertical diversification. The company should start producing other sea foods. This will increase revenue streams of the company. This move will also contribute to environmental sustainability since it will result to an healthy ecosystem(Pride Ferrell, 2010).The companies marine farms have been accredited. They have also helped to reduce overreliance of fish meals and fish oil feeds. Replacing nets from treated copper nets to kikka nets will contribute greatly in improving marketing mix of the company as well as contributing to environmental and economic sustainability. The company should reduce the length of the supply chain by reducing or eliminating middlemen. This move will help in reducing the price of products on the final consumer. The move will also helps in socio-cultural and economic sustainability since consumers will not be exploited by the middlemen(Nicol?escu, Alpopi and Zaharia, 2015). The reduction in length of supply chain will result to increased efficiency as well as help in delivery of products to customers on time. Conclusion Sustainability is very important incorporate organizations since it helps in guiding organizations to use resources in such a manner that the resources will be used to benefit future generations. It is therefore very important for an organization to incorporate sustainability goals and objectives in its business plan as well as in its marketing plan so as to ensure that all activities or projects undertaken by the organization contribute to sustainability. It is seen in this paper that Tassal has incorporated sustainability in its marketing mix and most of the activities of the business are sustainable. References Bergmann, A. (2016).
